To deepen the impact of the Village of Flossmoor’s annual MLK Jr. Day of Service, this 90-minute community workshop will enhance community engagement by creating an intentional space for education, reflection, and shared learning.
This 90-minute interactive, facilitator-led workshop is designed to complement service projects by inviting participants into thoughtful dialogue around equity, inclusion, and community belonging. Guided by a professional speaker with experience in equity, inclusion, and community engagement, participants will engage in small-group activities, guided discussions, and structured reflection focused on:
• Cultural differences and cross-cultural communication
• Understanding implicit and explicit bias
• Impact vs. intent in everyday interactions
• Allyship, advocacy, and shared responsibility
• Practical strategies for addressing and redirecting biased behavior
Rooted in Dr. King’s vision of justice, dignity, and collective responsibility, the workshop moves beyond awareness toward action. Participants will gain practical tools to communicate across differences, deepen empathy, and engage in respectful, productive conversations, both within the community and in their daily lives. RSVP today and enjoy this dynamic workshop with peers and community leaders. Lunch will be provided.
