Financial Assistance Program

Participants must fill out a Park District Scholarship Application and be able to prove residency, income and proof of dependents.  Applicant must also submit one of the following: SNAP approval letter, Free School Lunch program approval letter (if registering a dependent) or documentation of household gross income within the limits on the Federal income Eligibility Guidelines.  Proof of dependent must also be submitted if this hasn’t been done already.  This can be done by applicant’s 1040 tax form from prior year, SNAP approval letter with dependents listed or the AllKids healthcare programs card listing dependents. Once all paperwork has been received the applicant will be considered for a scholarship.

The amount of scholarship will be determined based on the income level.  There are three levels of scholarship available.  All levels are determined by the guidelines of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. No scholarship will be 100%.  Level One will provide a 75% scholarship, level two provides a 50% scholarship and level three provides a 25% scholarship.

There will be a maximum family scholarship per year and is determined on the same guidelines.

Scholarships are available for most programs and classes.  Not included are drop in programs, trips, ice hockey league, greens fees and Wiley’s restaurant.

Scholarship applications will be available at no charge to residents.  Non-residents are not eligible for the scholarship program.

Applications can be submitted beginning April 1.

Confidential applications or questions about scholarships can be directed to the Superintendent of Recreation Mike Gianatasio: [email protected] or 708-957-0300.
