ATTENTION: Sand Wasps sometimes nest in the park during the summer. This particular breed, officially known as the Bembix Sand Wasp, is not aggressive and of no harm to humans. They will not sting unless stepped on or smashed between your hands. Populations dissipate in September when new adults emerge from the sand.
