Commissioner Information
The Board of Park Commissioners will consider all interested residents who are registered voters of the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District and who have been a Homewood or Flossmoor resident for at least one year. The term of the appointment will be from May 20, 2025, until the swearing in of the elected candidate from the next consolidated election on April 6, 2027.
Park District commissioners are elected by the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District voters to serve six-year terms in an unpaid (voluntary) capacity. Since there was only one candidate running in the April 1, 2025 election for the two open seats, the Board of Park Commissioners may appoint a resident to fill the vacant seat until the next regularly scheduled local consolidated election. In this instance, the full term of office for the vacant seat is through May 2031. To fill the vacancy, the Board plans to appoint an individual from May 2025 – May 2027. An election will be held in April 2027 for residents to elect an individual to fill the remaining four years of the term, from May 2027 – May 2031.
To apply, interested residents should submit: (1) a letter of interest and (2) a completed questionnaire. Questionnaires may be downloaded here from the Park District’s website, or may be requested by calling 708-957-0300 or emailing Anne Brabec at abrabec@hfparks.com.
